Local support for Older People

Here are some local voluntary sector groups that provide support and help to older residents in the community.

Age Concern Hampshire provides services and activities, including:

Age UK provides a variety of services for older people, including:

  • Free Advice Line 8am – 7pm 365 days a year

  • Befriending services, eg free weekly friendship call

  • Day Centres

  • Exercise and physical activity

  • Handyperson services

  • Information guides and factsheets

  • IT Training

  • Social activities

Old and Young
Basingstoke neighbourcare.jpg

Basingstoke NeighbourCare assists those in genuine need in the local community by providing support to maintain their independence:

  • a transport service to those who are unable to use other forms of public transport, e.g. for the elderly, infirm or those who need a little help with mobility. 

  • a befriending service for lonely and isolated members of the community. Befrienders can also help with reading or form filling.
